Shake 627: Temple of Heaven

December 23, 2011

The Drinking Buddy, Beijing (China), November 2011

The "Temple of Heaven"

It was a good year for Chinese domes, mainly due to my Drinking Buddy becoming head legal counsel for Asia Pacific. Thanks Jess.

Clink those glasses to the end of the work year, bottoms up! We deserve it!

The Drinking Buddy, Singapore, November 2011

The Singapore Flyer

I thought I’d be finished blogging the collection by Wednesday this week, but with a couple of new additions today, it looks like I’ll just make it to Christmas Eve. What timing!

Thanks Jess, I’m loving your business trips more than you are I think!

Shake 604: Bugs

November 30, 2011

Renes, Hong Kong (China), August 2011

And the panda's back

Sorry for the lack of action lately, I’ve caught an awful stomach bug. I’m sick of bread and soup.

Shake 594: Eventful

November 20, 2011

Wonkie, Seoul (Korea) November 2011

Thanks hand model Em!

It’s been an eventful weekend that didn’t start out too positively, but we’re all good now! Phew. That age old saying is true: if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.

On a more positive note, these pen domes seem like the latest craze. Wonks, where is this Piglet from?

Shake 583: Oishii

Jem, Kyoto (Japan), August 2011

And just maybe a pen holder as well!

I read today that Japan is considered one of the top eating destinations in the world. The yakitori, the seafood, the udon, the sake… I could go on for ages. Basically, I concur!

Claim your Bangkok tuk-tuk!

Makes me miss Bangkok...

We’ve only just passed the first week flagpole of October and I’m already 3 domes up, it’s going to be a good month, I can just feel it! To all you mates on the road, my one request: remember, no domes in hand luggage. If we’re going to make it to Shake 600, they all need to survive the trip home!

This dome reminds me of a smell – the smell of Bangkok and that fun street food.

The Drinking Buddy, Beijing (China), July 2011

Up against the wall?

I know you’ve heard me harp on about how difficult it is to get a hold of domes celebrating China even though almost all of the world’s domes are manufactured there (oh the irony!). My frustration was doubled when my mate’s Great Wall of China dome was confiscated by airport security. So you’ll understand why I nearly cried when my Drinking Buddy presented me with this one. My first Great Wall dome at last.

My Drinking Buddy just loves to embarrass me in every social situation, but I have to say, this dome might just make up for all her past sins!

Shake 522: And the other one

September 9, 2011

Jem, Tokyo (Japan), year?

We’ve been without a little Jem-magic for a while. Have you been feeling it? This is the other set of hair baubles. How much do we love? Two statements and two questions. We’re all in balance. I sound crazy! Can you tell that I’m dying for the weekend?!

Claim your lucky elephant!

I love these Thai domes celebrating elephants. It always reminds me a National Geographic documentary I saw about how an orphaned baby elephant on a game reserve in Africa became best mates with a sheep. If animals can do it, why can’t we just all be friends? Not sure how this Thai dome post took a left turn down world peace lane, but there you have it.

Shake 514: Happy Spring

September 1, 2011

Claim your Petronas Twin Towers dome! (Jess...?)

Thursday night drinks with the start of the season! Happy spring all, it feels like it’s going to be a good one.
