Shake 540: Ampersand

Claim your Great Barrier Reef clownfish!

Surry Hills is an ever-changing organism. It’s a cocktail of art, food and students. Every other week while a restaurant closes, another cafe opens its doors. It’s hard to keep up. Thanks to B&V, I ticked off one new establishment on the weekend. Ampersand Cafe and Bookstore is located just across the paved square next to the new library. Although it sounds like it specialises in coffee and reading material, when the sun sets, it happens to serve fruity cocktails in some of the largest jars I’ve ever seen. There’s something fun about drinking out of a huge jar with a straw! While you enjoy their special fruity creations, you can browse through their 30,000+ used books and sit in their beautiful annex on the second floor. It’s such an inviting space that I’m keen to return for a good caffeine hit on a sunny day.
