Shake 479: In wine country

July 28, 2011

Emski, Hawaii, Oct 2010

The guide book suggests that the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway is a must if ‘humanly possible’. Who could argue with that? The walk follows the peninsula not far from the cute little township. It’s evident that it will be promising when you see wild seals warming themselves on the rocks not two metres away as you park the car. The three hour roundtrip has everything you could wish for and more – colonies of wild seals, rolling green hills on limestone cliff tops, spectacular lookouts over aqua bays and even herds of cows in parts of the walk that go through private land. This little adventure is surely a must if you’re in this neck of the woods.

Apart from the dump of snow in Christchurch, the locals tell us we’ve been enjoying unusually gorgeous weather – bright, crisp sunny days. And today is just another example. We hit Malborough’s wineries today!
