Shake 142: The home of Gruyere

August 25, 2010

Andie, Gruyere (Switzerland), Nov 2008

When we went to visit Andie in Geneva, one thing on her must-do list was to visit Gruyere. At the foot of Château de Gruyères is La Maison du Gruyère, where you can see how they make 48 wheels of this tasty cheese a day. I loved their entry ticket – it was a pack of three slices of gruyere, each aged for different periods. After just a day of cheese tasting, cheese viewing and a pot of fondue, I was pretty cheesed-out!

Interesting and educational too – I didn’t know Gruyere came from Switzerland!
